Citations to Large, Multi-Volume Appellate Records

New Orleans appellate attorney Raymond Ward has a very logical post at the (new) legal writer explaining why an attorney should, even if not required by the rules, include volume numbers in citations to multi-volume appellate records.  I know I would prefer to receive a brief that did this than one that does not.

Of course for California appeals, citation to the volume is required by Rule of Court 8.204(a)(1)(C).

Thanks, Ben, I should have pointed that out in the original post. That said, I’d love to have a nickel for every brief I’ve read that violates this rule (or the rules on format, or argument headings, or tables, or . . . )
